Obituary for Frank X. Johnson Jr.

Frank X. Johnson, Jr., age 71, passed away on September 17, 2018 at Milford Hospital after a long and valiant battle with a TBI Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s Diseases. He is survived by his wife and devoted caregiver Kathleen Twigg Johnson, his sisters Joan (Davis) Ganim of Stratford and Ruth Ann (James) Dorafeld of Branford and several nieces and nephews. His sister and brother-in-law, Phyllis and James Hagan of Branford predeceased him. Frank will be remembered for his photographic memory, quick wit, and mechanical ability. He loved nature and derived much pleasure from the companionship of his three furry friends. Frank was an auto and motorcycle enthusiast who enjoyed attending car races and shows with his friends. He was an avid gardener who built a pond complete with a waterfall. He was a consummate “tinkerer” who was always eager to lend a helping hand. Frank spent most of his career in the automotive parts industry until a horrific accident ended his livelihood in 2005. Friends are welcome to call from 5pm to 7pm on Friday September 21st at the Smith Funeral Home, 135 N. Broad St., Milford. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s or Parkinson’s Foundations or an animal charity of one’s choice.
