Obituary for Joann V. Warner

Joann V. Warner
Joann Warner (née Pallock), 72, of Shelton, beloved wife of Barry W. Warner, passed away unexpectedly Oct. 13, 2017. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Ronald Setkoski (Christina) of Newtown, Glenn Setkoski of New Haven, Amy Setkoski of Glastonbury, and Lanette Setkoski of Milford; step-children Barry Warner Jr. of Milford, Michael Warner (Renee) of Shelton, Christine Warner of Florida, and Shawn Warner (Suzanne) of Watertown; siblings Judith Henderson (John) of Stratford, John Pallock (Joan) of Monroe, Nancy Gabbard Baker (Lamar) of Utah, step-sister Priscilla Schenck of Arkansas, and brother-in-law Paul Warner (Kathleen) of Milford. She is also survived by her adoring grandchildren, Jessica and Olivia Setkoski; step-grandchildren Tiffanie, Joshua, Joseph, Christopher, Nicholas, Autumn, Zachary, and Emma Rose; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. Joann was preceded in death by her father, John Pallock, mother, Violet Montifiore, and step-father Edward Farren. Born April 10, 1945, in Bridgeport, Joann was a 1963 graduate of Warren Harding High School. Prior to completing her high school education, she proudly obtained her hair dressing/cosmetology license from Leon Institute of Hair Design in Bridgeport. Her interest in learning remained with her throughout her life and, as a “non-traditional” student in her early 50's, she earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Management, cum laude, from Albertus Magnus College in New Haven. As a young adult, she enjoyed the sights and sounds of Bridgeport’s Seaside Park. Later in life, she indulged her adventurous spirit, embarking on numerous cross-country and regional journeys along with international travel to Austria, Belgium, the Caribbean, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, and The Netherlands. A dedicated employee of Bic Corporation for 31 years, Joann received awards for perfect attendance and was active in her community, volunteering for and donating to numerous charitable organizations. Her many hobbies and pastimes included card nights with family and friends, casino trips, cooking and baking, reading, doing crossword puzzles, playing Scrabble, assembling puzzles, and bird-watching. She especially enjoyed her pets, including her beloved dog Teddy, and cats Pumpkin and Pocono. Those who knew Joann will remember her as a loving, generous, compassionate, and dedicated person who will be missed by all. Relatives and friends may greet the family Friday, Oct. 20, 2017, from 4-8 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home, 135 Broad Street, Milford. A prayer service celebrating Joann's life will be held at 7:30pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in Joann’s memory can be made to the American Cancer Society.
