Daryl Robert Albanese, age 60, of Milford passed away on Friday July 22, 2016 in Yale New Haven Hospital. He was born on November 18, 1955 to Barbara Knoth Albanese of Milford and the late Paul Albanese, Sr. Daryl was a graduate of Jonathan Law High School and the University of New Haven. He was a nationally ranked Tae Kwon Do athlete and in his youth served the community as a life guard and received a Presidential Award from President Nixon for saving a swimmer’s life. Before retiring, he was employed as a bus driver for Academy Bus in Bridgeport. Besides his loving mother, Daryl is survived by his brothers Paul A. Albanese Jr and his wife Maria, Terry R. Albanese all of Milford and George Albanese of Stratford, NJ, three nephews and three nieces. Calling hours are Wednesday, July 27, 2016 from 5pm to 8pm at the Smith Funeral Home, 135 N Broad St., Milford. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Thursday, July 28th at 10:30am with Rev. Brian Bodt. Interment will follow in Kings Highway Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 825 Brook St., Rocky Hill, CT 06067 in his name.
