Robert “Jeff” Osborn, a longtime resident of Orange, passed away peacefully at the Connecticut Hospice in Branford on June 15, 2015. For the past decade he bravely faced every challenge that cancer presented to him. If love could have saved him, he would have lived forever.
Loving and devoted husband of his wife and best friend, Monique. Predeceased by his parents, Mabel and Joseph Osborn and his brother Joseph. He was born in Milford, Connecticut on April 2, 1945. He leaves behind his brother, Peter (Sandra), nephews Mark Osborn, Kent Osborn and Michael Osborn, nieces Shannon Reynolds (Rick) and Terri Anderson, and special friends, Kathy and Richie Shea.
Jeff was an engineer who worked at G&O Manufacturing, Landreth Engineering and Ideal Products before his retirement. He was a brilliant, creative engineer and sculpture who owned several US Patents for his designs. An avid sailor on his Etchells “Monique,” he and his wife spent many summers sailing Long Island Sound. The Milford Yacht Club was their home away from home. Vacationing in Maine and climbing the mountains of Acadia was another passion, along with walking along Marginal Way in Ogunquit. Jeff loved all animals feeding chickadees out of his hand and building nesting boxes for all the birds in the sculpture gardens surrounding their house. The gardens are graced with his steel sculptures of hawks, falcons, and osprey which he created. Most special to him were his feline companions, Bogie and Red who rarely left his side during his last months. A special thank you to the wonderful, supportive and loving staff at Connecticut Hospice in Branford.
A memorial Service will be held at St. Mary’s Church in Milford on July 2, 2015 at 10:30am followed by a Celebration of Life at the Milford Yacht Club. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the ASPCA and Beth El Soup Kitchen in Milford, Connecticut.
