Death Notice for Louis A. Izzo for Saturday, March 3, 2012
Louis A. Izzo, age 89, of Milford, beloved husband of the late Roberta Foldy Izzo entered into eternal rest on February 28, 2012, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Bridgeport, the son of the late Louis and Anna Izzo. Louis was a WWII veteran serving proudly on the 808th Hospital Ship Platoon as a Medical Technician. He received many honors and medals for his service. He worked at Kurt Volk for many years. Louis was a member of VFW Post #9460, Stratford and East End Yacht Club. He volunteered his time to the Veterans. He was the most patriotic person we have ever known. Until his health slowed him, he “haunted” a few area stores daily getting to know the employees so well he considered them friends.
Louis is survived by his children, Anthony (Tina) of Spring Valley, CA, Robert (Sherry) of San Diego, CA, William (Karen) with whom he resided in Milford, CT, daughter-in-law Jeannie of West Haven, CT, his grandchildren Louis IV (Dawn), Jamie, Anthony, Gina, Trevor, Morgan, Louie, Danny, Drew, his two great grandchildren Louis V and Stephen, his sisters Dorothy Gagliardi, Lillian Fusco, Frances (Ernie) Settani, sister-in-law Mary Joseph and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife Roberta, he is predeceased by a son Louis III and sister Eleanor Atkinson.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Raymond T. Goldbach, VFW Post #9460, 100 Veterans Blvd., Stratford, CT 06615. Calling hours are Sunday, March 4, 2012 from 4 to 7pm at the Smith & Sefcik Funeral Home, 135 Broad St., Milford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, March 5 at 9:00am at St. Mary’s Church, Gulf St., Milford. Interment will follow in Mt. Grove of Easton.
