Obituary for Virginia Emily Stevens

On May 8, 2020, our Mom, Virginia Emily Stevens, died at the age of 87 due to Coronavirus complications.
Born in Milford, CT to Gladys and Frederick Schneider.
She married her longtime friend, Robert Leroy Stevens in 1951 at Woodmont Union Chapel. Mom and Dad were long-term residents of Milford. Upon Dad’s passing in 1984, Mom downsized and moved to her Condo in West Haven, CT.
She was a mom, grandmother, and great grandmother. She is survived by her daughters, Gloria M. Stevens of NYC, New York, Janet Cookson of Poland, Maine, Penny Lee Stevens of Woodstock, Georgia and son Robert Leroy Stevens, Jr of Savannah, Georgia. She is also, survived by 7 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
Survivors also include her sister Marjorie Hinds as well as many nieces, nephews, great -nieces, great nephews, and friends.
She is predeceased by her sister Claire Hitchcock, brothers Frederick Schneider (Fritz), John Schneider and Carl Schneider.
She enjoyed gardening, flower arranging, painting ceramics, dancing (especially to Dean Martin and Western Music) and she loved her sweets.
Due to the Coronavirus Pandemic:
Mom will be Buried beside her husband, Robert Leroy Stevens, in the Kings Highway Cemetery, Milford, CT.
A Memorial in Connecticut will be arranged and announced later when the “stay in place” ban has been lifted by the states and determined it is safe to travel and gather with family and friends.
