Obituary for Abe J. Lyman

Abe James Lyman
2/20/1947- 11/13/2019

Abe was a unique individual. He was very much a free spirit. Back in the days of psychedelic peace signs, he was given his first nickname, Hippy. Uncle Abe always had an appreciation for the simple things along with a zest for life. Doing things like jumping off of East Rock in a hang glider was no stranger to him. He loved motorcycles and used to have a chopper that you could see him on, cruising the beaches. As he got older, he became a spitting image of President Abraham Lincoln. So he legally changed his name to Abe James Lyman and even bought the stove top hat and tails.

He loved his family and took a special interest in his nieces and nephews. It wasn’t uncommon for him to drop by “just because”. Abe always found fellowship and enjoyed the life he was graced with. In his later year, his faith was an even more important part of his life as a member of the Grace Bible Church.

Abe leaves his brother, Thomas Lyman, many nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, November 22, 2019, 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm at the Grace Bible Church, 269 Coram Avenue, Shelton. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made directly to the Grace Bible Church.
