Sean Patrick Mitchell Beirne passed suddenly Monday evening from a brain aneurism, after holding on long enough to donate his organs. Adored as “the handsome guitarist,” Sean’s musical talent touched many as he rocked venues and festivals from New York to Austin. His infectious original songs were broadcast nationwide on the radio but his true love was wowing his fans at live rock 'n roll performances. He performed regularly for nearly 2 decades as a member of bands including the Battlecats, Joanie Loves Tchotchkes, and CT Music Award-winning Chore Boys.

As much as Sean loved music, there was one thing he loved even more: his family. Ever loyal, he took care of his father Tom, who predeceased him earlier this year, his adored mother, Sheila, his beloved twin sister Deirdre (whom he called “the Boss”), travel buddy Brian Logan, elder brother Thomas (Colleen), and nephews Tommy and Collin.

Sean studied anthropology at UConn before serving as the Deputy Registrar of Voters for the City of Milford for many years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Sons of the American Revolution.

His witty wild streak, coupled with his sensitive soul and deep loyalty, earned him loved ones far and wide. A Catholic Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday at 1pm at St. Thomas More Chapel at Yale in New Haven. In true Sean fashion, there will be a rock 'n roll reception following at Cafe Nine, also in New Haven, with live performances.
