William E. Linane, age 83, of Stratford passed away on November 20, 2018 in St. Vincent’s Medical Center, Bridgeport. Born on October 11, 1935 in Bridgeport, he was the son of the late John J. and Agnes B. Murphy Linane. He proudly served in the US Navy and retired from United Illuminating, where he was employed as a supervisor. Mr. Linane will be remembered for his devotion to his family, playing golf, and watching horse races, especially the Kentucky Derby. He is survived by his dedicated son John Davies (Annette Tolboe) of Beacon Falls, brother John Linane of Stratford and James Linane (Mary Ann) of Stratford, grandchildren Danielle, Jacklyn and Amanda, and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his loving wife Carol Barbara Ann Lally Linane. Calling hours are Friday, November 23, 2018 from 4pm to 8pm at the Smith Funeral Home, 135 N. Broad St., Milford. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Saturday, November 24, 2018 at 10am. Interment with Full Military Honors will follow at Orange Center Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to his favorite charity, St. Jude’s Children Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
