Andrew L. Petrahai, Jr., age 59 of Milford, passed away November 3, 2018 at MidState Medical Center, Meriden. Andrew was born in Bridgeport, March 21, 1959, son of Rosemary K. Zapatka and the late Andrew L. Petrahai, Sr. Andrew was a graduate of Stratford School of Aviation Maintenance Technicians and worked as an aircraft mechanic and blade inspector for Sikorsky Aircraft for 41 years. He was also the first vice president of IPMS Stratford-Igor Sikorsky Chapter. He took great pride, joy, and interest in restoring WWII aircrafts to scale. He loved attending air shows and was an avid photographer. Andrew was an avid fan of the UConn Huskies Women’s Basketball team. The world would stop on a dime, as he was sure to NEVER miss a game. He was also a proud member of the local Teamsters Union and the NRA both for 41 years. Besides his mother, he is survived by his sisters Laura Ematrudo (Jim) and Nancy Petrahai (Ben Carr) all of Milford, his nieces and nephews Amanda Farrelly (Brian), David R. Ritchie (Jacqueline), Kaylee Lobo (Robert), and Tim Dunne, his great niece Peyton Rae and Ryan Matthew Ritchie, and his beloved kitty Licorice. Calling hours will be held Friday November 9, 2018 from 4pm to 8pm at Smith Funeral Home, 135 Broad St., Milford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday at 9:30am at St. Gabriel Church (St. Raphael Parish), Milford. Interment will follow at King’s Highway Cemetery, Milford.
