Jaqueline J. (O’Brien) Wellner; 90 of Milford, beloved wife of the late Charles Wellner passed away peacefully at Milford Hospital on Friday August 17, 2018. Jackie was born March 18, 1928 in Elm Grove, West Virginia daughter of the late Joseph and Irene (Quick) O’Brien and had been a CT resident for more than 80 years. Jackie had an adventurous spirit. At the age of 21, she moved out west to Colorado with her high school girlfriend Elaine (Ball) McVinua where she lived and worked for 6 years before returning to CT permanently. She enjoyed swimming, skiing, and traveling, visiting such exotic places as Hawaii and St. Petersburg Russia. She also loved volunteering her time with the Milford Literacy Center and her church. In her spare time, she was a voracious book reader. Jackie is survived by her devoted daughter, Suzanne M. Wellner of Milford, one brother Harris J. Brown of Nashville, TN, along with numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her daughter, she was predeceased by her stepdaughter Laura A. Wellner, sister Geraldine L.V. O’Brien and her brother Joseph J. O’Brien. Calling hours will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Thursday August 23, 2018 with a “Celebration of Life” service immediately following. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Smith Funeral Home, 135 North Broad St. Milford. Internment will be at Kings Highway Cemetery Milford. In lieu of flowers, those who so desire can make a contribution to a charity, organization, or church of their choice.
