Samuel A. Campagna, 90, died peacefully at Milford Hospital on July 8, 2018. Born in Milford Hospital on November 10, 1927, Sam lived his life in Milford except for his time in the Navy. Sam joined the service at age 17 and served with his shipmates in the South Pacific. He and his mates were waiting for news of the invasion of Japan when the war ended dramatically. Sam returned home to become a special patrolman and then joined the force. He served Milford for 33 years, including serving on special committees and boards. He leaves behind his wife Christine Campagna, his six children, Samuel and his wife Linda, Christine, Roseanne and her husband Robert, John and his wife Gail, Adam and his wife Susan, as well as Jennifer. He leaves behind his 12 grandchildren, Amy, Kathleen, Colleen, Katherine, Edward, Adam, Lea, Luke, Max, Katelyn, Brittany, and Stacy, as well as a great grandchild Melvin. He is also survived by his sisters Josephine (Rudolph) and Maryann (Richard). Calling hours will be held Thursday July 12, 2018 from 4pm to 8pm at Smith Funeral Home, 135 Broad St., Milford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday July 13, 2018 at 10:30 am at St. Mary Church, Gulf St., Milford. Interment will follow at St. Mary Cemetery, Buckingham Ave., Milford.
