Obituary for Joan Ethel Basque

Joan Ethel Basque, age 82, a lifelong resident of Milford and most recently of Maplewood of Orange , passed away on Thursday, May 17, 2018 in Milford Hospital. She was the daughter of the late Bernard and Ethel Gal Blotney. A loving mother and grandmother, she will be remembered for her love of camping, especially at Indian Fields Camp Ground in Salem, CT along with sewing and crafting with her beloved late husband Richard A. Basque. Joan is survived by her devoted sons Richard Basque, Jr. of New Hampshire, Michael Basque and his wife Lisa, Ronald Basque and his wife Cassandra all of Milford, daughter Susan Lewis and her husband Dan of Trumbull, brothers-in-laws and sisters-in-laws John Basque and his wife Ciel, Pat Basque, Ken Basque and his wife Faye, Jerri Cirella and her husband Bob, Ted Basque, David Basque and Mildred Blotney, her dear grandchildren Rebekah, Tim, Daniel and LeAnna Basque, Mitchell and Kevin Lewis along with several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her brother Bernie Blotney. Calling hours are Tuesday, May 22, 2018 from 4pm to 7pm at the Smith Funeral Home, 135 N. Broad St., Milford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 23rd DIRECTLY in St. Mary’s Church at 10:30am. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to Connecticut Hospice, 100 Double Beach Rd., Branford, CT 06405.
