Catherine H. (Katie) Breunig, age 54 of Shelton, formerly of Milford, passed away April 5, 2018 at Connecticut Hospice, Branford. Catherine was born in West Haven. October 29, 1963 and worked as an accounts receivable manager for Lord Chamberlain Nursing and Rehabilitation Center of Stratford. She was a devout catholic and was a parishioner of St. Mary Church of Milford. She was an avid bowler and enjoyed playing softball for various teams. She also volunteered and donated to battered women’s shelters, a cause that was very near to her heart. No one can forget her smile and she will be forever young. She is survived by her father, Albert Breunig and his wife Darlene, her son Joseph Bossie, her brothers Albert C. Breunig (Aimee), Harold E. Breunig (Roseanne), and Michael C. Breunig (Jessica), her niece Amy Breunig RN BSN, her uncle Michael Zavatkay, and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins, and her very special friend Elinor Brandt (George). She was predeceased by her mother Elizabeth Zavatkay (Edward Wypychoski), her twin, her other sister Bridget Sheahan (John), and her aunt Ellen Zavatkay. Calling hours will be held Monday, April 9, 2018 from 5pm to 8pm at the Smith Funeral Home, 135 N. Broad St., Milford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday April 10, 2018 directly at St. Mary Church, Gulf St., Milford at 2pm. Interment will follow at St. Mary Cemetery, Buckingham Ave., Milford. Flowers will be welcomed by the family by anyone for the services.
