William H. Hofmeister, age 82 of Milford, passed away March 18, 2018 at Milford Hospital. William was born in Bridgeport, December 27, 1935, son of the late Martin J. and Eva Seifried Hofmeister. William was a graduate of Milford High School and of the University of New Haven where he received a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Engineering and proudly served his country in the Air National Guard. He worked as an engineer for Sikorsky Aircraft for over 30 years and the Yale Athletic Department for over 20 years. Active in the community, he was a former State Representative for the 117th District, a member of the Milford Republican Town Committee, and a parishioner of St. Agnes Church of Milford. In addition to hockey, he enjoyed woodworking, watching all sports, and being with his family. A husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and uncle, he is survived by his loving wife Francine Fenn Hofmeister, his children Michael J. Hofmeister and his wife Joann of North Branford, Heidi Hinckley and her husband Mark, Susan Bedworth and her husband David, and Karl W. Hofmeister and his wife Jennifer all of Milford, 9 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, his sister Hilda Brannigan, and his sister-in-law Charlene Gregory. He was predeceased by his first wife, Patricia Joy Hofmeister and his brothers-in-law William Gregory and Bob Brannigan. Calling hours will be held Thursday March 22 from 4pm to 8pm at Smith Funeral Home, 135 N. Broad St., Milford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday March 23 at 10 AM at St. Agnes Church, Milford. Interment will follow at Kings Highway Cemetery, Milford.
