Obituary for Doreen P. Silver

Doreen P. Silver, age 66 of Milford, beloved wife of the late Gerald R. Silver, passed away February 16, 2018 at CT Hospice, Branford. Doreen was born in Bridgeport, September 16, 1951, daughter of Nancy J. Nolting Amann the late Arthur F. Amann. She worked as an accountant for St. Raphael’s Hospital for many years. Active in the community, she was a parishioner of St. Mary’s Church of Milford and a member of the Milford Elks Lodge #1589. She was a former cheerleading coach for Milford Elks Pop Warner, Milford Summer League Basketball Coach, St. Mary’s School Mother, and Den Mother of the Milford Cub Scouts Pack 721. She was an avid golfer, dancer, and enjoyed going to Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun Casinos where she enjoyed playing blackjack, craps, and slots. Her favorite pass time and most joy in life was getting all the family and friends together for our annual 4th of July party and all the holidays. She is survived by her son Mark Silver (Kerry) of West Haven, her stepsons Timothy Silver (Melissa) of Seymour and Jay Silver (Seton) of Brookfield, her stepdaughter Amy Mikulski (Steve) of Tolland, and her honorary daughter Nicole Wilhelm (James) of Milford, 11 grandchildren, and her brothers James A. Amann (Theresa) and Paul D. Amann (Katherine) all of Milford. Besides her beloved husband Gerald and her father, she was predeceased by her brother Mark W. Amann. Calling hours will be held Wednesday February 21, 2018 from 4pm to 8pm at the Smith Funeral Home, 135 N. Broad St., Milford. A funeral service will be held Thursday February 22, 2018 at 10am. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Milford. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Parkinson Disease Association @ www.adpaparkinson.org.
