Betsy W. McCarthy, age 68, of Milford, passed away on Sunday, January 28, 2018 in her home. She was born on June 16, 1949 in Brooklyn, NY to the late Joseph and Elizabeth Curnen McDonnell. Betsy graduated from St. Francis School in New Haven in 1963, Milford High School in 1967 and a received a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism from the College of Good Counsel in 1971. A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, she served as a Deacon in the Milford Christian Church. Betsy is survived by her loving husband John McCarthy, sons Christopher McCarthy and his companion Tracy of Shelton and Kevin McCarthy of Orange, daughters Kate Coriano and her husband Shayne of Milford and Claire McCarthy of Orange, grandchildren Madeleine McCarthy, Andrew Giacobbe and Bryce Coriano and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers Kevin and Randall McDonnell and sister Kathi McDonnell-Bissell. Calling hours are Friday, February 2, 2018 from 4pm to 8pm at the Smith Funeral Home, 135 N Broad St., Milford. A Memorial Service will be held in the Milford Christian Church on Saturday, February 3rd at 10am. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be in her name to the Milford Christian Church, 989 New Haven Ave., Milford, CT 06460.
