Robert A. Weant, 73, of Milford, passed away quietly in his sleep, after a long illness on December 24, 2017 in the comfort of his home surrounded by his family. Born in Texas and raised in Liberty, Missouri, Bob graduated from Liberty High School and he received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from Finlay Engineering College (1966) and is a graduate of the Missouri State Highway Engineering Accreditation Program (1968). He worked for several years at the Missouri Department of Transportation, where he met his wife Judy Ferguson. They moved to Connecticut in 1975 and Bob worked for Eno Foundation, a non-profit transportation organization located in Westport. He was employed as a civil engineer and author of transportation and urban planning publications, before retiring in 1995. Bob volunteered with the Milford Jaycees and served as president in the late 70s. He was also a member of several professional organizations including the Institute of Transportation Engineers (Chairman); National Parking Association (Trustee); the International Council of Parking Consultants (Board of Directors); and served on several editorial and peer review boards. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend, he is survived by his wife Judy, sons Jason Robert Weant and Shawn Martin Burch (Maggie Burch), daughter Heather Louanne Nichols (Shawn Nichols), granddaughter Mackenzie Aurora Nichols, many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Besides his parents, Robert and Betty Lou Weant, Sr, he is predeceased by his sister Susan K. Frevert. Calling hours are Tuesday January 9, 2018 from 4p.m. to 8p.m. at the Smith Funeral Home, 135 N Broad St., Milford. Interment will be private.
